Here in Boulder, we’re in a bit of a seasonal limbo. For many, school is back in session, giving us major fall vibes. At the same time, craft breweries continue to concoct and release delicious, refreshingly fruity summertime brews, but hints of pumpkin and hearty spices are starting to creep closer and closer to taprooms and liquor store shelves. In our Frothy Five this week, check out
Beer in Boulder‘s picks for five of this week’s amazing Boulder County craft brewery events, from festivals to seasonal releases to charity dinners and much more.
Boulder Craft Beer Festival in Boulder’s West Central Park
Saturday, August 20th, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM
A craft beer festival put on by Downtown Boulder with the intent to both showcase Boulder’s amazing craft brew culture and to help fund and support year-round programming in Downtown Boulder, the Boulder Craft Beer Festival is celebrating its third year this Saturday. A festival that was immediately popular upon its inception, having sold out in its first two years, this event features over twenty local breweries including West Flanders Brewing Company, Avery Brewing Company, BRU Handbuilt Ales, and even Redstone Meadery. A line-up of great bands, lawn games, and food trucks round out this event that will give you pride in Boulder and allow you to help support the local craft community.
Tickets are still available, but don’t wait to reserve your spot to partake in all the sipping and sampling fun at this amazing Downtown event.
Saturday, August 20th, from 12:00 PM to Midnight
A Lafayette brewery that, as they would describe themselves, is “small yet mighty,”
Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company is celebrating two years of groundbreaking, award-winning, insanely creative and delicious beers this Saturday. Having racked up an impressive number of
awards for their brews in their two years of existence, and having just opened a barrel room
private event space, Liquid Mechanics is a fun-loving and welcoming craft brewery that is a must-visit.

Annual Barrel Release of Rumpkin and Pump[KY]n at Avery Brewing Company
Sunday, August 21st, at 11:00 AM
The Rumpkin and Pump[KY]n ales at
Avery Brewing Company, in my opinion, are things of Boulder craft beer lore. These two monstrous beers not only scream autumn with the flavorful spices and pumpkin they’re brewed with, but are also two envelope-pushing craft brews that will make you rethink what a beer can be.
This Sunday, enjoy the
release of this year’s Rumpkin and Pump[KY]n at the
Avery Brewing Company taproom and pick some up to take home with you. With this year’s Rumpkin, a pumpkin ale aged in rum barrels, clocking in at 17.5% ABV, and the Pump[KY]n, a pumpkin porter spiced with allspice, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon, measuring in at 18.8% ABV, these beers are big, heavy, and total treats.
Wednesday, August 24th, at 6:00 PM
Huge proponents of strengthening the local community, Boulder County breweries play a large hand in supporting local organizations who are doing amazing, impactful work for Boulder County citizens. This coming Wednesday, stop by
The Post Brewing Company in Lafayette for their
5th Annual Jack’s Benevolent Bash, a six-course paired beer dinner with 100% of proceeds going to the
Autism Society of Boulder County. A backyard-style event, this bash aims to support children with developmental challenges being able to attend summer camps, as well as individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their families as a whole.
Tickets are required, so reserve your spot today to enjoy some creative culinary pairings and to support a wonderful local organization.
