The Frothy Five: Beer in Boulder’s Weekly Craft Brewery Events

It’s a clash of the seasons in this week’s Frothy Five brought to you by Beer in Boulder! The mornings have turned crisp but the days are still sunny and warm and, as summer transitions to autumn here in Boulder, we can’t help but get excited for cooler days, sweater weather, football season, and some hearty seasonal beers. Boulder could, of course, always surprise us and keep the summer weather going throughout September, but for now we’re dreaming of fall. Here are Beer in Boulder‘s picks for five noteworthy craft beer events happening in Boulder County over the next week.
On Tap Now!
Tapped this Thursday, the Banana Walnut Hefeweizen at Wild Woods Brewery is giving us major chilly morning, wrapped up in a cozy blanket, and enjoying a slice of banana bread with our A.M. coffee vibes! Both on tap and available in 22oz bombers as part of the Wild Woods Switchback Series, this German-style wheat beer was conditioned with a whole lot of toasted walnuts and is a must-try brew.
Friday, August 26th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM
The coming of the local Oktoberfest seasonal brews is a sure sign of fall. Whether you think it’s a bit early to start indulging in them or not, what can’t be denied is how delicious the Left Hand Brewing Company Oktoberfest Marzen Lager is and how fun the release party promises to be! Tonight, stretch your stein-gripping muscles and stop by Left Hand to enjoy this malty harbinger of autumn to ring in the (almost) return of our favorite season.
Saturday, August 27th, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM
Yet another unique beer release on this week’s list, the Powder Keg Brewing Company Lettre Rouge bottle release this Saturday hasn’t quite succumbed to the pressure to get into the fall spirit, and instead features refreshing and citrus-y summer ingredients. A golden sour ale aged with hibiscus flowers, this beer will be available in 750ml bottles. Powder Keg will also have some limited quantities of their recent beer and bottle releases on hand, such as the Fruitful Union and Quartet, so be sure to stop by and enjoy them all.
Opera on Tap at Upslope Brewing Company Flatiron Park Taproom
Saturday, August 27th, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Live music is a staple at Boulder County craft brewery taprooms in many varied forms. We have to say, though, that we’ve never heard of opera in the taproom, which is exactly what patrons will get at Upslope Brewing Company‘s Flatiron Park Taproom this Saturday! Opera on Tap is an organization that has created a strong network of artists and creatives looking to bring about recognition of and appreciation for opera as an art form, and they will be performing Suor Angelica by Puccini this Saturday. Take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy this amazing classical craft while also indulging in staple local craft beers. Tickets are available for advance purchase or at the door night-of.
Sunday, August 28th, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM

Ah, autumn, a time of hooded sweatshirts, pumpkin everything, football, and tailgating! Get a head start and practice perhaps the most classic of tailgating games, cornhole, and throw some bags at the Asher Brewing Company 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament this Sunday afternoon. Enjoy great beers from Colorado’s first all-organic brewery and warm up your throwing arm during an afternoon of friendly competition and dreaming of parking lot parties.

Head on over to Beer in Boulder to sign up to receive a weekly email from us every Thursday morning encompassing all Boulder County craft brewery events happening that week. Also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for updated information and more craft brewery fun. Cheers!
